Description |
Employer: New Zealand Superannuation Fund
Reporting to the Head of Public Markets your responsibilities will include researching and monitoring the Fund's existing suite of asset managers and identifying and researching those that might also form part of the portfolio.
This is a newly created position within the Investment Policy team. The team consists of a small number of individuals who help formulate and implement the Fund’s investment strategy. The Fund currently has approximately $10bn in assets and is expected to grow to over $50bn over the next decade. All asset management is outsourced to external asset managers. Currently there are 25 such managers and 34 separate investment mandates.
Reporting to the Head of Public Markets, and located in Auckland, your responsibilities will include researching and monitoring the Fund's existing suite of asset managers and identifying and researching those that might also form part of the portfolio. You will contribute to researching optimal manager configurations within the portfolio and new ideas in mandate structuring.
You will work with a small team committed to achieving global best-practice standards in funds management. You will deal extensively with highly regarded asset management firms both in New Zealand and around the world. You will make an important contribution to the development of New Zealand's largest fund.
You will bring to this role an investment management background, strong analytical skills and the ability to express yourself fluently, in writing and orally, both internally and externally. You will be a careful listener and patient negotiator. Ideally you will have worked in a multi-manager environment before, have experience in evaluating long-only and hedge fund strategies and have reasonably well developed quant skills. You will be passionate about the role and recognise the opportunity to contribute to an organisation operating at the leading edge of investment practice.
