Chen Palmer is a highly successful law firm specialising in public law. We have excellent opportunities for junior lawyers who want to work as part of a great team.
Chen Palmer attracts a variety of very interesting work in the areas of constitutional law, administrative law, Treaty of Waitangi, the New Zealand Bill of Rights Act, parliamentary law, legislation, policy and regulatory law, the Resource Management Act, international public law, environmental law and in associated public law litigation.
We are currently seeking legal staff with regulatory experience in private practice / litigation or government / parliamentary sector.
Applicants for these positions should also have experience in the following areas:
- Administrative law;
- Competition Law;
- Constitutional Law.
Ideally, you would be expected to have some or all of the following:
- At junior level, two to four years (since completion of professional studies) experience in regulatory issues in leading New Zealand or overseas firms;
- have knowledge of the political, policy and legislative environment and processes and have understanding of public law in New Zealand; and
- have an understanding of the interaction and interface between commercial and public law.
All applicants must be able to:
- provide high quality advice on legal and strategic issues and exhibit a good sense of judgement;
- be willing to work as part of a team.
All applicants should have:
- excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to deliver advice in a clear and comprehensive manner;
- good client management and organisational skills; and
- an interest and enthusiasm for the contribution Chen Palmer & Partners makes to public law in New Zealand.
