Reporting to Deputy Secretary Corporate Department of Labour Wellington
A key role within the Corporate group with links across the Department; this is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a team player who is adept at working in complex operating environments.
This role requires a highly skilled and motivated professional with energy, to provide high quality advice and support to the Deputy Secretary, and who contributes to and enables delivery of the corporate group strategic objectives. This means ensuring the Deputy Secretary is provided with accurate, well researched background information and timely advice that guides and supports his responses, actions and decisions.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
Ability to identify, anticipate and prioritise issues for the Deputy Secretary in the context of the group strategic direction
Highly developed problem solving skills and the ability to work with little direction due to an intuitive understanding of the outcomes sought
Effective communication and experience in building strong working relationships with a range of different stakeholders
Comfort in making executive/high level decisions and providing astute and strategically focused advice
Focus on long range outcomes as well as a willingness to delve into details
A practical and pragmatic approach to getting things done, prepared to be hands on to ensure the Deputy Secretary, group and department goals are met.

A cross Public Service secondment is potentially available to candidates preferring this option.
