The Waitangi Tribunal is a commission of inquiry established under its own statute, the Treaty of Waitangi Act 1975. The Tribunal is supported by Waitangi Tribunal staff, who are employees of the Ministry of Justice. The Tribunal¡¯s staff undertake research into claims, facilitate claims in hearing, assist appointed Tribunals in writing their reports, and provide other services to the Tribunal. We are looking for professionals with a commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi to join our dedicated Wellington based Registrarial team.



Do you have an interest in Treaty issues? Is it time to put your legal studies into practice?



You¡¯ll be part of a team responsible for registering Treaty of Waitangi claims, preparing legal aid application reports, and providing drafting assistance and advice on procedural issues and the claims process.



Your LLB or advanced study towards an LLB will be essential to do this role. You will have experience or knowledge of legal process and procedure from your studies or work. Your love of legal writing, research, critique and analysis will be well catered for in this role, as will your strong desire to provide exceptional customer service at all times.
