Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Environmental Geochemistry The Department of Geological Sciences at the University of Canterbury invites applications for a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer position in Environmental Geochemistry.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. or equivalent in Environmental Geochemistry.or a related field. They should have an established high quality research record with potential to build and lead a research programme in environmental geochemistry and gain external funding. Evidence of a commitment to excellent teaching is required. Expertise with modern environmental geochemical analytical equipment is essential. The appointee will be required to teach in the general area of environmental geochemistry within the Geology undergraduate programme and in the Engineering Geology and Environmental Science postgraduate programmes.
The department is committed to the purchase of a major piece of analytical equipment in the field of Environmental Geochemistry in 2007. It is expected that the purchase will be guided by the successful applicant and the equipment will be primarily for their use. The department currently has an XRF, and XRD, as well as a wet chemistry laboratory. A sedimentology laboratory with a laser particle sizer is also available. Mass spectrometers and other equipment are available elsewhere on campus.
