Investigating Officers - Economic Compliance Unit (ECU)



Land Transport New Zealand is a government agency that contributes to an integrated, safe, responsive and sustainable land transport system.

The Economic Compliance Unit (ECU) is responsible for an efficient and effective regulatory system, ensuring the correct collection of all Crown Revenue due from road users.

The Unit is looking for three confident and self-motivated people with excellent investigative skills to coordinate and undertake investigations relating to road user charges fraud and evasion.
These are demanding roles that require the successful applicants to be reliable, enthusiastic, and resilient as well as committed to working collaboratively both internally and externally with a wide range of stakeholders.

We are looking for applicants who have:
* experience in a regulatory role that includes well-developed general investigative skills and an understanding of accounting practices
* excellent analytical skills
* the ability to make sound decisions and solve problems
* well developed organisational and planning skills
* the willingness to rapidly acquire detailed knowledge of transport legislation
* excellent written and verbal communication skills
* the ability to build positive relationships
* a high level of initiative, versatility and resourcefulness
* advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Access
* a proven ability to work effectively in a team environment while at the same time managing your own workload and outputs
* although not essential, knowledge of the transport industry and an understanding of road user charges would be an advantage. A current driver¡¯s licence is required.
