Job Description Land Transport NZ

National Resource and Development Advisor

Land Transport New Zealand is a government agency that contributes to an integrated, safe, responsive and sustainable land transport system.

We have an exciting opportunity for someone with an interest and/or background in road safety, as well as knowledge of capability development to join the Commercial Road Transport Unit (CRTU) in this newly created role.

The CRTU team has developed a new approach to meeting our statutory responsibilities and interacting with the commercial road transport industry – we have moved from a focus on enforcement to a focus on co-operative compliance. In order for us to effectively implement this approach we need to develop new skill sets and refocus existing roles.

As the National Resource and Development Advisor, you will work with the Commercial Road Transport team to develop the capabilities and competencies required for us to make this shift. You will develop a monitoring and evaluation programme for training initiatives, develop programmes for resource development and assist the Manager, Operational Development and Monitoring to manage key relationships with industry representative groups and government agencies.

We are looking for someone who can show that they have:

significant experience in researching and developing programmes designed to build capability

an ability to identify innovative and positive approaches to achieving a safe and efficient commercial road transport sector

highly developed communication skills that can be used in a wide range of settings

extensive experience in the development and maintenance of relationships, particularly in a regulatory environment

an understanding of and experience with commercial road transport legislation and business practice.

If you believe you have the right skills and competencies and are looking for a role where you know you are making a difference to road safety, then we look forward to hearing from you.

Further information on this position and an application form are available from our website, www.landtransport.govt.nz/jobs. Applications must include a covering letter, CV and completed application form.
