Are you interested in economic development and sustainability issues relating to the tourism sector?

Can you conceptualise and develop creative solutions for complex problems?

Do you have a passion for tourism policy?

The Ministry of Tourism is the Government's lead advisor on tourism policy. We provide policy advice, deliver tourism research and statistics, and manage and monitor the Government's investments in tourism. Our current research and policy frameworks are focused on updating and implementing the New Zealand Tourism Strategy 2010, which sets out a strategic vision for the development of the tourism sector. We also play a fundamental role in encouraging the incorporation of tourism perspectives across the public sector.

The policy issues that the Ministry deals with are very broad, ranging from macroeconomic issues, border security matters, small business performance through to environmental management issues.

By joining our dynamic and diverse team, you will be working at the leading edge of tourism policy, and you will have the opportunity to make a major contribution to the development of the tourism sector.

We are looking for a person with proven policy analysis skills, New Zealand government experience, local or central, and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with tourism stakeholders, industry representatives, Ministers and peers. You will have a tertiary qualification in economics or another relevant discipline, and a good understanding of the tourism sector.
