Description |
Hudson New Zealand
Communications Advisor - Digital Strategy The Government launched the NZ Digital Strategy in 2005 - a plan for ensuring all New Zealanders benefit from information and communication technology (ICT).
The role of Communications Advisor is to support the Digital Strategy team with the implementation of communications strategies and by delivering communications services.
As Communications Advisor you will be responsible for developing and implementing a communications plan for the Digital Strategy. This will involve a balance of both strategic planning and operational work, i.e. looking at the project plan, setting out a communications strategy, prioritising it into tasks, and implementing it. Working closely with the project team you will have confidence in presenting yourself and your ideas and be able to communicate these in a professional manner, cutting through issues and getting the job done. You will represent advice strongly and act as an advocate for the project.
You will have excellent writing skills and a sound understanding of the political process, including knowledge and experience of how a government department works, as well as managing communication with the Minister's office. Drafting communications material to support events, presentations for the Minister, and other written information is an essential part of the role.
Establishing positive relationships and engaging with key stakeholders, both internal and external, is essential. You will have a sound knowledge of communications tools and techniques, and will bring experience in website content - form, structure and infrastructure, and preferably skills in event project management.
Whilst direct media contact is minimal you will be required to write media releases and other proactive publicity for the Digital Strategy, such as arranging publicity on launches to ensure maximum coverage of events. You will work closely with the Ministry's Communications Directorate on management of issues.
This excellent opportunity to join the Digital Strategy team is offered as a twelve month fixed term contract. If you have the passion and desire to join our team, please contact us.
A role description and information on how to apply are available on our website www.med.govt.nz Applications, quoting vacancy number 06/122, close 11 October 2006
