Description |
Water Safety NZ
Project Manager - Education Water Safety New Zealand (WSNZ) provides for leadership within the water safety education sector in New Zealand. This includes playing a vital role in educating people in water safety and promoting water safety issues in the community.
The Project Manager will be responsible for the development and management of water safety and drowning prevention programmes. This will involve the application of expert technical, research and analytical skills in order to ensure effective understanding and communication of WSNZ policies and projects to the community.
The Project Manager will undertake functions essential to the ongoing task of reducing drownings and water related injuries in New Zealand. An excellent understanding of the Health and Physical Education Curriculum and education sector is sought in order to provide for competent advocacy for policy development complimentary to drowning prevention initiatives is vital. The ongoing promotion of classroom education resources and the complimentary community resources is part of the education advocacy function.
The monitoring, updating and developing of research opportunities specific to water safety comprises an essential aspect to the water safety sector in New Zealand to ensure water safety projects are delivered on an ˇ°evidence basedˇ± platform. In addition, the Project Manager will also be charged with overseeing the evaluation and auditing of water safety projects to ensure all likely and possible outcomes are met.
This role requires a person with experience and background including: Well developed competency levels in management and leadership Extensive working knowledge of the Health & Physical Education Curriculum An understanding of water safety issues Excellent relationship management and communication skills Excellent project planning and financial management skills You will be working with a professional organisation, staffed by a dedicated team based in Wellington (Head Office) and also Regional Water Safety Coordinators (3).
