Description |
Ministry of Economic Development
Investigator The National Enforcement Unit is looking for an action oriented individual to join our team as an Investigator. Primarily you will be responsible for conducting investigations and preparing cases for prosecution.
Preferred applicants will be expected to demonstrate an investigative background which will be complemented by excellent communication and interviewing skills. Capable of working with a wide range of people, you'll have proven problem-solving skills with an analytical approach to your work. As investigations are primarily conducted with minimal supervision, you'll need to be highly organised and possess strong self-management ethics.
The NEU was established to undertake investigations and where appropriate prosecute bankrupts and delinquent directors under the legislation it enforces on behalf of the Official Assignee, the Registrar of Companies and the Registrar of Motor Vehicle Traders amongst others. It is also responsible for the investigation and preparation of prohibition reports on behalf of the Registrar of Companies.
The successful applicant will possess:
Experience working in a law enforcement environment, with particular emphasis on investigation and prosecution
A thorough understanding of investigative techniques and methods including proven ability to interview, write reports, liaise with other enforcement agencies and act as a witness in Court
A good understanding of the legislative framework surrounding investigations e.g. criminal law, rules of evidence, Bill of Rights, Privacy Act etc.
Thorough knowledge of and skill in interviewing techniques
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to carry out investigations in accordance with the legislation administered by the Ministry
Proven ability to detect, analyse and report information for the purpose of prosecutions under the above named acts
Ability to carry out investigations with minimal supervision
A tertiary qualification or equivalent, or demonstrated abilities and experience in the law enforcement field
