CHIEF EXECUTIVE - Energy Efficiency & Conservation Authority EECA (The Energy, Efficiency and Conservation Authority) is a Crown entity established pursuant to the Energy, Efficiency and Conservation Act and is the main body responsible for helping to deliver the Government¡¯s extensive energy efficiency agenda. Its function is to encourage, promote and support energy efficiency, energy conservation and the use of renewable energy sources. It has developed the National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Strategy (NEECS) in conjunction with the Ministry for the Environment.
The Chief Executive reports to a Board of Directors. A primary responsibility of this position is the evolution of the National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Strategy in a form acceptable to the Board and the responsible Minister through a robust consultation process with key stakeholders.
This position requires highly developed leadership and relationship building skills, a proven track record in senior management within a commercial environment, experience reporting to a Board and competence in strategic policy development within Government and the wider commercial sector.
The role also demands excellent communication skills and an understanding of the processes of Government and the framework in which crown entities operate. A general knowledge of New Zealand¡¯s energy sector is desirable, but not a prerequisite.
