Technical Assistant (Systems Section)


University of Otago Library

Applications are invited from persons with appropriate qualifications and experience for the position of Technical Assistant in the Systems Section of the University of Otago Library. The Systems Section has responsibility for all computer equipment and software within the Library. Duties will include assisting in the implementation and maintenance of the Library¡¯s hardware and software.

The Systems Section runs a HelpDesk for the Library, and the successful candidate will be expected to staff the desk and to regularly handle a variety of tasks assigned to them. This will involve troubleshooting and the maintenance of appropriate records.

The position would suit a person wanting to gain some practical computing experience within the University environment. Applicants should hold a relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent professional qualification. The successful candidate will have excellent people skills, a basic knowledge of installing and maintaining computer equipment, and an aptitude for learning and applying new skills.
