Description |
The Site Manager (permanent position) for a major commercial construction contractor involves the management of new project works ($20M plus site). You will be working in as a key member of the company project management team, charged with quality delivery of the project on time. Your attention to detail and common sense will add value to the company and its clients. The position reports to the Project Manager and is off the tools, you will have a number of Foremen reporting to you.
A formal trade qualification is a minimum requirement of the position, as is at least ten years of New Zealand commercial construction experience with a contractor with at least five in a management role and preferably with at least two significant larger projects under your belt. Basic computer skills, documentation and attention to detail are important aspects of this key position. The role is open due to expanding company workload in the Wellington area. This a management position where you are able to move back and forward from the office to the formwork gang and deal with both groups easily. Your practical building skills will be combined with your programming and organisation of the job.
The company is a major player in the New Zealand construction market and has a large forward workload of commercial construction works for a wide range of clients. It is financially backed by a Iarge operator. Internally, it is well resourced at all levels and has good relationships with most major consultants. The role is site-based generally within Wellington City, dependent on the project. The project offices are usually well catered for and fairly spacious by construction industry standards. The company management has an approach of promotion within, as evidenced by most of the senior people, so this position could be a significant opportunity career wise.
The package mainly consists of a straight salary which is expected to fall in the $85,000 to $105,000 range dependent on qualifications, skills and experience. There are some additional minor benefits including healthcare.
