Waitakere City Council
Parks Contract Officer - Arboriculture
This position is a key role in the management of critical park maintenance contracts. Working as part of the Parks Assets Team, your primary responsibility would be the management and the auditing of the Arboricultural Contract and other assigned minor works projects and contracts.
You will manage and be accountable for the City¡¯s Tree Assets on streets and parks and for the quality audit programme of associated capital, maintenance and operational contracts. One of the primary functions of this position will be the management of the City Arboriculture Maintenance contract which includes the provision of new street and park trees and the removal and replacement of trees. Along with supervision of the Planning for trees City wide; keeping the City and Heritage Tree Strategy and Tree Database current. The total of these projects is valued at over $1.5 million with the management of over 15,000 street trees.
You would be responsible for the auditing of the performance of the associated Contractors in attending any issues related to these contracts and ensuring quality, customer service and service levels of these contracts.
The successful candidates will have some or all of the following: * An appropriate tertiary qualification; * Previous experience in Contract and or project management; business and or park management; * Substantial Tree management experience; * A current full New Zealand driving licence.
Although these roles are predominately working in parks this should not prevent people from applying with contract management back ground and experience in other disciplines.
Proven customer service, communication and written skills are essential as you¡¯ll work closely with contractors, developers, consultants, council peers and the public on the creation, development, renewal and maintenance of our Parks and Streetscape Assets.
