Fisheries Prosecutor Exciting Career Opportunity Auckland
The Ministry of Fisheries works to ensure that fisheries are used in a sustainable way and that we have a healthy aquatic ecosystem. The National Prosecution Team, which provides high quality legal advice to Compliance staff and manages and conducts prosecutions on behalf of the Ministry, is looking to appoint a Fisheries Prosecutor to join the Auckland office team.
Key responsibilities will include:
Providing operational legal advice to Compliance staff Managing and conducting prosecutions on behalf of the Ministry Researching and delivering training to Compliance staff Contributing to policy and legal framework development Actively participating in the development of Compliance strategies Assisting in the management of the case law library and electronic databases Special projects The ideal applicant will have:
A Law Degree and entitlement to a practising certificate At least 1 to 3 years experience in litigation Strong research, analytical and statutory interpretation skills A pragmatic, solutions focused approach to problem solving Sound judgement and professional integrity A willingness to work co-operatively as part of a team An attractive remuneration package is available and there will be ongoing opportunities to develop legal and other skills.
