The Weathertight Homes Resolution Service (WHRS) was set up to help owners of homes less than ten years old that are leaking and damaged. In 2005 the WHRS became part of the Department of Building and Housing and a comprehensive review of the service was undertaken. With this recent restructuring, a position has now become available in the Weathertight Services Group for a Technical Advisor to join the team, offering technical advise and assistance to home owners, the construction industry and to assessers and claims resolution staff.
Applicants for this position will have the following: • A relevant building or construction industry qualification • Significant and proven technical experience and knowledge of building methods and techniques • Preferably have a knowledge of building surveying and/or local authority building control • The ability to communicate ideas and information effectively to a variety of people • Analytical and report writing skills • The ability to work calmly and well in stressful situations
This is a critical and pivotal role within the Weathertight Services Group and the successful applicant will be responsible for providing technical support and assistance to assessers, home owners and claim resolution staff, reviewing of assessers reports and keeping up to date with new inspection techniques and methods.
The successful applicant will become a recognised industry expert on the causes of leaking homes and on resolution methods and will have a significant impact on the development of new building specifications and standards in New Zealand.
If you are a building industry professional, looking for an office role where you will be continually challenged, but have the ability to make your mark, this is the job for you.
You must be eligible to work in NZ to apply for this role. Contact Daniel Hopkins for further information or to apply for this job.
